Packing up 22 years of my life this past week was neither easy nor efficient. I won't lie. There were several times I stopped to take a trip down memory lane via scrapbooks and photo albums. There were also a lot of goodbyes with hometown friends that were supposed to be one hour and turned into an entire night of talking, laughing and reminiscing about the good ole' days. It's such a stellar feeling to know there are people in your life whom you can go months without seeing and when you reunite, it's like you were never apart one minute.
Due to all of the above, this week has been nothing short of an emotional rollercoaster. It was a great week — and has honestly been an amazing past month — but I am ready to cash in my one-way ticket to the big city! I hope every single one of you who said they want to come visit follows through. I better see all of you at my door :)
Throughout my final stages of packing, I have been compiling a playlist to listen to on the days I'm gallivanting around the city. Some of them are quite obvious choices. Others are a little, "What?...", but I think they will all make my journey a little more enjoyable. Here's what I have so far:
New York, New York - Frank Sinatra
Empire State of Mind - Jay Z featuring Alicia Keys
New York State of Mind - Billy Joel
Suddenly I See - KT Tunstall
Our Time - Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Jenny from the Block - Jennifer Lopez
Chicken Noodle Soup - DJ Webstar
On Broadway - George Benson
Uptown Girl - Billy Joel
Not for the Life of Me - Thoroughly Modern Millie
So that's 10. I need some more. Suggestions are requested and appreciated!
See you all in the city!
